Silicone Tapes

What Are Silicone-Based Tapes?

Silicone-based tapes use silicone adhesive systems known for their exceptional temperature resistance, chemical stability, and ability to bond to challenging substrates. Unlike solvent-based adhesives, silicone adhesives maintain performance in extreme environments—both high and low temperatures—while providing reliable adhesion to low-surface-energy (LSE) materials, silicone rubbers, fluoropolymers, and other difficult surfaces.

Silicone tapes excel where other adhesive technologies fail. They offer outstanding thermal stability, excellent electrical insulation properties, and long-term aging resistance. Their clean removability, minimal residue, and ability to withstand harsh operating conditions make them ideal for high-performance applications across aerospace, automotive, electronics, medical devices, and industrial manufacturing.

Silicone tape systems provide consistent performance across a wide range of environments, including exposure to UV, ozone, fuels, oils, and other demanding conditions. They are commonly used for masking during high-temperature processes, insulating electrical components, splicing, bonding, and protecting sensitive surfaces.

Silicone Tape Capabilities

  • High-temperature performance (often up to 500°F / 260°C depending on construction)
  • Excellent adhesion to low-surface-energy materials such as silicone, PTFE, and fluoropolymers
  • Superior electrical insulation properties for electronics and high-voltage applications
  • Outstanding UV, ozone, and weathering resistance for long-term outdoor stability
  • Clean removability with little to no adhesive residue
  • Reliable performance in extreme environments, including cryogenic applications
  • Available in film, foil, fabric, and specialized composite constructions
  • Supports precision coating, masking, and splicing operations
